Thanks for the comments! I was thinking Life myself, it's an amazing lore. I just haven't found any character other than Spellweavers (with Life or Beast) to be of any use in 8th edition. Maybe in highly specialized army lists, but still. Granted, the Treeman Ancient with 50 points of Spites could be pretty brutal in a 1,500 point list (take another Treeman as a rare and you have some heavy hitters for that size of battle).
Hail of Doom arrow is still amazing, even at BS4, at just 30 points. It's pretty much guaranteed to drop a small handful of potentially expensive models off the table. I really can't justify ever taking a Noble or a Highborn, unless the list were tailored to suit them, so the only way to get Hail of Doom is with the Spellweaver. I do agree, however, that there could be some even more powerful magic items to take on a Spellweaver. What do you suggest in particular?
Good advice about the musicians. With musicians, the Glade Guards could move 5" every turn and shoot without penalty, all with 1 free reform, right?
I see a lot of 4 model Treekin units. What is the advantage? Presumably it is to have a 2x2 formation, but could you just have a 2-1 formation with 3 models?
